What is a Confirmation Statement?

The confirmation statement is a document that companies must file at Companies House each year. It gives Companies House a yearly snapshot of the details of your company, including information on ownership, your registered office address, shareholdings, and more.

You must file at least one confirmation statement every 12 months. Your 12 month review period starts on either the date your company incorporated, or the date you filed your last confirmation statement. You must file your statement within 14 days of the end of your review period. 

If we complete your confirmation statement for you, we will contact you towards the end of your review period. We will ask you to check your company registers to make sure all of the information held at Companies House is correct and up to date. If it is not, we can action changes for you and then submit your confirmation statement once these details are correct.

Even if there are no changes to be made, you must file a confirmation statement. If you do not, there is potential for your company and its officers to be prosecuted, and your company struck off the register.
