Who is suitable?

Our AAT Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping is an internationally recognised qualification and will enhance your skills and prepare you for the nextstep in your career. You will gain practical, real-world accounting and finance skillswith the freedom to study flexibly, from anywhere. In addition, the Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping enables you to practice as a professional bookkeeper registered with the AATQB.

This qualification is suitable for learners who have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping or learners not wanting to commit to the full AAT accounting qualification, as well as learners who want to become self-employed bookkeepers. This qualification is available to learners aged 18 or over.

What will you learn?

Enhance your skills, knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping with our Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping blended course. This distance learning course is relevant for businesses of all sizes and in all sectors, and is perfect for individuals in finance roles, social enterprises or small business owners wanting to upskill their staff.

This qualification will develop complex skills and knowledge necessary to work in a bookkeeping role or to progress to higher level accountancy roles or study. Students completing this qualification will become competent in financial processes including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. They will also be introduced to business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT).

Unit 1: Preparing Financial Statements This unit will allow you to apply the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping, implement procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets, prepare and record depreciation calculations, record period end adjustments and produce and extend the trial balance.

Unit 2: Tax Processes for Business This unit will provide you with an understanding of applying VAT legislation requirements, accurately completing VAT returns, and submitting them in a timely manner, the implications for the business of errors, omissions, late filing, and payment as well as reporting VAT-related information within the organisation in accordance with regulatory and organisation requirements.

On completion of each unit, you will sit a computer-based test at a local centre  of your choice.

Exams & Assessments

The two units in Level 3 are assessed by a Computer Based Assessment (CBA). You will complete these at an approved AAT assessment centre of your choice. Assessment fees are payable to the centre/venue and may incur an administration fee.

On completion of both units, you will get a Certificate from the AAT.

Assessment Preparation

On our Standard and Premium course packages, you will encounter a series of online knowledge tests throughout the course. This includes End of course tests and Online exam simulation tests (Mock Assessments). Our specialist department will provide you with feedback advice and support, plus any additional lessons and tests you may need prior to taking an assessment.

Arranging an assessment:

There are over 200 external assessment venues available in the UK (including with us). To find your nearest venue go to AAT’s Assessment Venue Search.

When the time comes to take an assessment, you can choose from the list and contact them to arrange a suitable time and date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is registration included?

Not by default, but you can add it to your order by selecting unless you add it on by using the option below. It costs an extra £90.

Q: Are assessment fees (exams) included?

No. You will need to book your own exams at an approved AAT assessment centre of your choice. You would pay the test centre directly at the time of booking.

Q: What is the average completion time for these courses?

Our students take anything from 4 months to 12 months to complete this Level 3 course.

As this is blended learning there are live online tuition sessions to attend and we we that generally our students take around 9 months to complete the course.
